Aquablation Robotic Therapy
South Brooklyn Health is the first hospital in Brooklyn, and the first NYC Health + Hospitals facility to offer patients Aquablation therapy for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or an enlarged prostate, a non-cancerous condition where the prostate has grown to be larger than normal. The AquaBeam® Robotic System performs aquablation therapy, the first FDA-cleared surgical robot that combines a camera with ultrasound imaging and a heat-free waterjet for targeted, controlled, and immediate removal of prostate tissue. This one-of-a-kind procedure allows surgeons to create a personalized treatment plan with long-term relief tailored for each patient.
Surgical oncology plays a significant role as part of our comprehensive cancer care offering at South Brooklyn Health, and we offer inpatient and outpatient surgical care. Our board-certified surgical oncologists collaborate with our experts in medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, and pathology to provide care that will yield the best results. Every cancer treatment is tailored to the specific needs of the individual patient and, when possible, we utilize minimally invasive techniques for a faster and stronger recovery.

The breast service team at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health provides comprehensive, compassionate, and clinically superior care for individuals with various conditions, including breast mass, breast pain, nipple discharge, mastitis, and breast abscess. We focus on prevention, risk reduction, early diagnosis, and optimal treatment. Treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, and radiation therapy. Our surgeons follow the standards of evidence-based medicine and provide individualized care tailored to each patient’s unique situation. Our Breast Tumor Board represents our commitment to a multidisciplinary approach and ensures we provide the best possible cancer treatment and care plan for each patient.
South Brooklyn Health also hosts a survivorship program to support the patient as well as their families and friends during treatment and beyond.
Proctology and Colorectal Surgery
The highly skilled proctology and colorectal surgeons at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health provide personalized, compassionate, and patient-centered care, and specialize in the minimally invasive surgical treatment of colon and rectal pathologies, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, rectal prolapse, constipation, and incontinence, anorectal conditions such as hemorrhoids, fissure and fistulas, anal cancer, and pilonidal disease. We also offer rubber band ligation and sclerotherapy treatment for hemorrhoids in our office.
The Dental Service of NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health provides oral health care services to all who require them because we believe that patients have the right to receive the highest quality of oral health care possible and education in good dental habits. Our treatments include oral and maxillofacial surgery, dental implants, Invisalign (invisible braces), bonding, cosmetic bleaching, veneers, removable and fixed bridgework, root canals, fillings, and extractions. We also provide comprehensive hygiene treatment, including nutritional and hygiene counseling, periodontal treatment, oral cancer screening, sealants, and prophylaxis with fluoride.
Our hand surgeon is board-certified in plastic surgery, hand surgery, and general surgery, and uses an effective multidisciplinary approach to treat conditions that affect hands, wrists, and upper extremities. This includes chronic conditions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, and acute hand injuries and fractures, such as those resulting from accidental lacerations and amputations. We perform surgery on cysts, infections, tumors, and injuries of hand and upper extremity nerves, tendons, and joints. We also treat burns and other conditions with skin grafts and related surgeries.
Head and Neck Surgery
The endocrine head and neck division in NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health provides care as part of a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach with our colleagues in medical endocrinology, oncology, radiology, pathology, and anesthesiology. We cover all aspects of care for benign and malignant conditions of the thyroid and parathyroid glands. We also perform evaluation and management of neck masses and management of airways. We offer same-day biopsy and minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgery.
The NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health Division of Neurosurgery is comprised of board-certified neurosurgeons who provide cutting-edge and comprehensive treatment to patients with a variety of nervous system, spinal, and brain conditions, including spinal stenosis (compression of the spinal cord and nerves), herniated or slipped disc, abnormal spine alignment or spinal instability, spinal fractures, hydrocephalus, trigeminal neuralgia, Chiari malformation, brain and spinal tumors, and head and spinal trauma.
The team in our Division of Ophthalmology at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health provides care for a wide range of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, strabismus, and dry eye disease. Our board-certified ophthalmologists and optometrists are experts in comprehensive ophthalmology as well as the subspecialties of the cornea, retina, glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology, and oculoplastics. Our operating suite is fully equipped with the most advanced technologies to provide patients with the highest level of surgical care. Ophthalmologists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to treat eye trauma and other ocular emergencies.
We also provide the following services in our outpatient medical center: laser treatments for diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma, excision of eyelid lesions, eye injections (intravitreal injections) for diabetic retinopathy, Humphrey visual field testing, and imaging of the retina and optic nerve.

Otolaryngological (Ear, Nose, Throat) Surgery
Otolaryngology services at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health include the diagnosis and treatment of all disorders of the ear, nose, and throat. Our team of board-certified podiatrists serves the community through preventative diabetic foot care, treatment of bunion and hammertoe deformities, minimally invasive operative techniques, arthroscopic surgery, fracture management, wound care, and other foot and ankle pathologies.
Our wound care clinic is part of the Wound Care and Limb Salvage Fellowship Program which focuses on the treatment and prevention of lower extremity ulcerations through bracing and offloading pressure on vulnerable areas of the foot. Our team of highly qualified physicians performs and offers treatment for many ailments including lung tumors, esophageal lesions, esophageal reflux, and stenosis (narrowing of the esophagus).
The Department of Urology at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health provides comprehensive, individualized urological care in a soothing environment. Our highly trained board-certified surgeons and physician assistants specialize in treating conditions of the urinary tract through minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopic and robot-assisted procedures that provide minimal scarring, reduce post-operative pain, and shorten recovery time. We treat enlarged prostate, elevated PSA, hydrocele, kidney stones, urological cancers, and conditions related to male sexual and reproductive health, including infertility, varicocele, erectile dysfunction, and penile curvature.
