Applying to Our Program
General Requirements
To apply, you must complete your application through the ERAS system, which should include submission of the following:
- Personal Information
- Personal Statement
- Curriculum vitae
- Medical School Activities, Honors, and Awards
- For MD school candidates USMLE Step 1 and 2 score reports. (Step 3 if applicable)
- For DO school candidates, COMLEX 1 and 2 score reports
- All relevant higher education transcripts
- Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
- At least 3 letters of recommendations
Graduates of medical schools outside the United States and Canada must have a current valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), must be no more than 2 years out of medical school, and have at least 1 year of US clinical experience. For more information regarding Visa sponsorship, please reach out to our program coordinator or the Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME).
Application Timeline
Our program utilizes the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We currently have reserved THREE positions for our categorical program track. If interested in applying, please coordinate with the Dean’s Office at your medical school to submit your application materials via ERAS.
- Applicants can register to the ERAS system and begin working on portions of their application typically beginning in June of that application cycle.
- Submitting and certifying applications begins in September
- We begin reviewing applications typically end of September/early October
- Interview invitations will be sent out on a rolling basis beginning October through Mid-February.
- NRMP Registration Deadline: January 30
- Rank Order List Deadline: Early March

Sub-Internships
Our department welcomes rotating Medical Students for sub-internships. Rotating services include General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. If you are interested in setting up a 4th year elective sub-internship please contact our Program Coordinator Shevon Forde. Fordes10@nychhc.org
