At NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health, our board-certified pediatricians and experienced staff provide pediatric services, including pediatric primary, subspecialty and urgent care, to more than 100 infants, children, and adolescents in New York City each day. Our pediatric primary care practice serves infants from birth and children up to 12 years old. We provide sick care and routine health care, including vaccinations, COVID-19 testing, tuberculosis testing, blood work, hearing and vision screenings, developmental assessments, and diagnosing and treating disease.
Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine
Our board-certified physicians in General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine provide primary and consultation services for adolescents and young adults between 12 and 22 years of age in our Division of Adolescent Medicine, which has a separate waiting room and examination rooms. In addition to sick care and routine checks, HIV and sexually transmitted infection screening, contraception, and family planning services are available.
Our physicians and support staff speak a variety of languages, including Arabic, Bengali, Hebrew, Hindi, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu. We are experienced working with children and adolescents and understand how stressful going to the doctor can be and strive to make it an easy and worry-free environment for patients and their families.
At NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health, we also provide services for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults in several pediatric specialties, including:
- Developmental Pediatrics: Evaluation, treatment, and management of mental retardation, speech therapy, autism, attention deficit/hyperactive disorder (ADD and ADHD), hyperactivity, pervasive developmental disorders and delays, learning disorders, poor school performance, developmental delays, and disabilities.
- Neonatology and Newborn Services: State-of-the-art care for newborns, including a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which uses some of the latest monitoring and ventilating machines, including nasal CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), a non-invasive method of providing ventilatory support.
- Safe Sleep: Participant in the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program whose policies and procedures are consistent with safe sleep best practices endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN). Safe sleep reduces the occurrence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
- Pediatric Allergy: Evaluation, treatment, and management of all allergic-immunology problems of children including but not limited to urticaria, contact dermatitis, eczema, recurrent infections food allergies, asthma and allergic rhinitis.
- Pediatric Cardiology: Evaluation, treatment, and management of a full range of cardiovascular problems, including heart murmurs, chest pain, irregular heartbeats, and congenital heart disease.
- Pediatric Dermatology: Evaluation, treatment, and management of dermatologic problems of the skin, hair, and nails.
- Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism: Care for endocrine diseases, including diabetes, poor or slow growth, early or delayed puberty, overactive and underactive thyroid conditions, cholesterol disorders, and lipid metabolism (problems with the digestive processing of fats and oils).
- Pediatric Hematology: Evaluation, treatment, and management of blood diseases, bleeding disorders, anemias including iron deficiency, sickle cell disease, hemolytic anemias and aplastic anemia.
- Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension: Diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases in infants, children, and adolescents.
- Pediatric Pulmonary: Evaluation and treatment for all pulmonary conditions, including asthma, cystic fibrosis, sleep apnea, pneumonia, tuberculosis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease, a problem that occurs when stomach contents come back into the esophagus.
