The Victim Services Program at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue is dedicated to serving patients and families who have been affected by violent crime, including:
- Sexual assault
- Domestic violence/intimate partner violence
- Human trafficking
- Elder abuse
- Physical assault
- Gun violence
- Vehicular assault
- Mass casualty incidents
Using a trauma-informed lens, licensed social workers ensure that patients are aware of their options and rights in the aftermath of violence, in order to help promote safety and recovery. Services include:
- Crisis counseling and safety planning
- Resource information and advocacy regarding healthcare and legal options
- Confidential rape crisis intervention services
- Psychotherapy and support groups
- Advocacy within the law enforcement and criminal justice systems
- Referrals for on-site hospital services and community resources
- Assistance with compensation applications through the NYS Office of Victim Services.
We work closely with the Emergency Department, sexual assault forensic examiners, and other hospital units to provide comprehensive services for patients. Our volunteer rape crisis and domestic violence advocates respond after regular business hours and offer emotional support and advocacy. Program services are available at no cost.

Appointments can be made during regular business hours by calling 212-562-3755 (M-F, 8am-5pm). Emergency Department social workers are onsite 24 hours a day.
After-hours callers who are experiencing a crisis or need information may contact the Safe Horizon hotline at 800-621-HOPE.
Anyone experiencing a medical or mental health crisis should call 911 or go directly to their nearest emergency department.
