Postgraduate Year One Pharmacy Residency
NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue offers a 52-week, full-time postgraduate year 1 (PGY-1) training program that provides residents with a broad and individualized experience that allows the resident to develop practice management, leadership, academic, and patient care skills upon successful completion of the program. The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue is in ASHP Candidate Accreditation Status.
This program is designed to provide residents with the knowledge and skills necessary to become well-rounded clinicians through both elective and core learning experiences that are tailored to meet both residents’ needs and interests. Residents are also exposed throughout the course of the residency to participation in various hospital-wide committees, working on a research project with presentation to national and regional pharmacy conferences, and developing preceptor skills through a teaching and learning certificate program.
Graduates of the PGY-1 program should be prepared to pursue a specialty PGY-2 residency or a pharmacy position in a hospital-based environment if they so desire.
Compensation and Benefits
Residents earn an annual stipend of $58,000. Paid time off is allotted for vacation/personal time, holidays, interviews, and professional meetings. Additional benefits include comprehensive health insurance and a travel stipend for national and regional pharmacy conferences.
