Department of Surgery

Eye Clinic

At the Woodhull Eye Clinic our physicians are expertly trained to provide adults and children with evaluations and treatment of various conditions of the eye such as refractive errors, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataracts, and pediatric eye disease.

Within the Eye Clinic, Optometry and Ophthalmology services are provided. Our mission is to maintain high standards of excellence in clinical care and surgery for our patients. As a teaching institution, we endeavor to train the next generation of eye doctors who will provide excellent care and lead in their field.

General Surgery

We offer both surgical and non-surgical treatment for a wide range of conditions. From cancerous and non-cancerous bowel and biliary diseases to vascular access procedures, we offer expertise in the treatment of some of the most complex abdominal, soft tissue, and breast diseases. We have a team of general surgeons trained and experienced in the most advanced minimally-invasive techniques and we are proud to provide sensitive and patient-centered care.

Orthopedic and Hand Surgery

We provide operative and non-operative services related to general musculoskeletal diseases and injuries including primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgeries, care for basic upper and lower extremity fractures, degenerative spine conditions, knee meniscus, and shoulder rotator cuff disorders. Our orthopedic surgeons have an academic affiliation with NYU Langone Orthopedics and are fellowship trained in joint replacement and basic spine procedures.  Additionally, we provide operative and non-operative management for a variety of hand diseases and injuries.

Otorhinolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery)

Our service is staffed by Board Certified surgeons who specialize in head and neck medicine and surgery.

We provide:

  • Ear and nose evaluations and treatment, including hearing evaluations
  • Throat and neck evaluations and treatment
  • Head and neck cancer/oncology screening
  • Fiber optic endoscopic assessment of the nose and throat

Urology (Genitourinary Surgery)

Offering medical services for the majority of the urinary tract concerns and surgery for all genitourinary system issues, the Urology Surgery department prides itself on providing comprehensive care for men and women with cancerous and non-cancerous conditions of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder. We are also offer clinical expertise in treating men with prostate and genital diseases.

Vascular and Thoracic Surgery

Personalized consultation and treatment by a board certified thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons for conditions of the chest, including the chest wall, lung, pleura, esophagus, pericardium and mediastinum as well as the arterial and venous diseases, is provided. With our Cardiology colleagues, we offer cardiac pacemaker and defibrillator service and implantation. We also have an Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for Vascular Testing accredited Non-Invasive Vascular Laboratory, which allows us to perform extracranial cerebrovascular testing, peripheral arterial testing and peripheral venous testing.

Doctor’s Office hours, by appointment only: Tuesdays 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Thursdays 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.

Vascular Laboratory Hours: Mondays thru Fridays at 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Pain Management

Pain Management is a service of the Department of Anesthesiology & Ambulatory Care. Our goals are to minimize or eliminate the amount of pain through a multidisciplinary treatment approach using interventional techniques, analgesic management, physical therapy, behavioral therapy, and other approaches. We aim to decrease individuals’ dependence on medications, improving their functionality and quality of life as well as facilitating their return to the workforce.

The pain management center has outpatient and inpatient components and is available for consultations or evaluation and therapy. Patients need a physician referral.
