About Queens

NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens is part of an integrated health care system of hospitals, neighborhood health centers, long-term care, nursing homes and home care. NYC Health + Hospitals is committed to the health and well-being of all New Yorkers and we offer a wide range of high quality and affordable health care services to keep our patients healthy and to address the needs of New York’s diverse population.

NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens is a major healthcare provider and an affiliate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai that has proudly served the communities of central and southeastern Queens for nearly a century. The professionals at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens value the culturally rich and diverse neighborhoods served by the hospital center, but at the same time, we recognize the complex public health issues they face. Because we believe that community plays an important role in living a healthy lifestyle, we continue to assemble and organize resources through collaborations with business entities, community groups, residents and other health care providers.

The mission of NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens is to provide quality, comprehensive care to all members of the public regardless of their ability to pay. Medical services are provided through an affiliation agreement with our academic partner, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The hospital offers residency training in Dental Medicine, Internal Medicine, OB-GYN and Ophthalmology along with fellowships in Pulmonary and Hematology-Oncology.

NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens opened the doors of a new, modern state-of-the-art facility in January of 2002 and continues to grow and expand. 2007 saw the opening of a new building on the healthcare campus – a new ultramodern Ambulatory Care Pavilion that connects to the hospital via two enclosed bridges. The opening of the Pavilion fully complements our commitment to a philosophy of patient-centered care by unifying and consolidating services previously offered throughout our sprawling campus. More recently, we have added ICU beds, Neonatal ICU beds, Medical-Surgical beds and expanded capacity in our Recovery Room (PACU) and Labor and Delivery Suites. The hospital has both private and semi-private rooms which provide a more personalized environment for our patients.

Our spacious Ambulatory Care suites features both primary and specialty services as well as cutting-edge technology. Services include adult, pediatric and psychiatric services and operative services include same-day surgery and inpatient surgery.

As technology continues to change, so does NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens. We have expanded our Radiation Oncology capabilities by introducing new technology to our Linear Accelerator which will help treat certain brain tumors. We were the first hospital in the County of Queens to have a PET/CT scanner which provides a higher level of accuracy in disease diagnoses, staging and treatment planning. More importantly, however, is the outstanding care and compassion we give to those who need healing. In short, our revitalized facility has sustained the resurgence by introducing a winning formula that has signaled continued growth and development at all levels of care.
