Neonatal Intensive Care Units

Neonatal Intensive Care Units

Nurses interested in serving in neonatal intensive care (NICU) units throughout NYC Health + Hospitals now have a new professional development opportunity: the Office of Patient Centered Care  has created a new Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Fellowship for newly licensed registered nurses or nurses transitioning into neonatal critical care.

This Fellowship is designed to bridge the gap between nursing school and independent neonatal practice and targets nurses wishing to build a long-term career in Level III or IV NICU settings. The NICU Nursing Fellowship provides a structured transition-to-practice pathway for new graduate nurses or nurses new to NICU; helping them develop clinical confidence, critical thinking, and specialty competence in neonatal care.

This fellowship program uses a blended learning approach, which includes the use of various teaching methodologies including evidence-based e-learning modules, in-person lectures, simulations and role playing.  Professional development opportunities and mentoring are provided during and after the conclusion of the fellowship program.
