NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi serves as a primary academic affiliate and teaching site for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Home to New York City’s first-ever Emergency Medicine Residency, Jacobi offers trainees and faculty direct exposure to high-acuity, complex, and time-sensitive pathology.

Specialized Emergency Divisions

  • Adult Emergency Department: Divided three physician teams. East & West – High Acuity Bays; North – Split Flow / Moderate Acuity & Urgent Care. Features 3 state-of-the-art resuscitation bays, 6 dialysis-capable rooms, 5 OB/GYN exam rooms, and a dedicated orthopedics room.
  • Pediatric Emergency Department: A distinct, high-volume division serving over 30,000 children annually and supporting an onsite Pediatric EM Fellowship.
  • Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP): A separate, dedicated emergency psychiatric service located in Building 8.

Regional Centers of Excellence

  • Regional Burn Center: Houses the only Burn Unit in the Bronx and the second-largest in New York City.
  • Regional Hyperbaric Center: Emergency Medicine operates a 23-foot, multi-person walk-in hyperbaric chamber serving as the 24/7 referral center for the entire Tri-state area.
  • Regional Snakebite & Toxicology Center: The regional referral center for envenomations, featuring direct collaboration with Bronx Zoo herpetologists alongside dedicated toxicology and addiction medicine teams.
  • Designated Advanced Primary Stroke Center 
  • Designated PCI (STEMI) Receiving Center.

Advanced Imaging & Technology

  • ED Imaging Suite: 2 dedicated CT scanners, 3 X-ray rooms, and a radiology-performed comprehensive ultrasound room located inside the adult ED.
  • Point-of-Care Ultrasound: 8 dedicated bedside POCUS machines driving immediate bedside diagnostics (6 in Adult ED, 2 in Pediatric ED)
