Commitment to Wellness
Life during residency is fast paced and demanding. We believe that maintaining a work life balance is imperative to having a successful professional and personal life. The culture of our department provides opportunities to develop long lasting professional and personal relationships. Our department recognizes that a majority of residents are not only adjusting to residency but acculturating to living in America. We have cohesive and caring department and we pride ourselves on the collaborative spirit among the residents, faculty, nurses and ancillary staff. The wellness of all residents is a our priority. Every year there are numerous social activities to participate in such as:
Living in NYC
New York City is truly iconic. It is one of the world’s most vibrant and culturally rich cities. We encourage our residents to have fun and take advantage of the cultural and gastronomic diversity New York City offers. Its world-famous sites, theaters, museums, operas, ballets, restaurants, festivals, street fairs, parks, shopping, and sports gives you an experience unlike any other city in the world.
New York is truly a walking city. It also has a great public transport system which allows our residents to live throughout the 5 boroughs of New York City and New Jersey. Pelham Parkway (Bronx), Upper East Side (Manhattan), Upper West Side (Manhattan), Astoria (Queens), and Woodside (Queens), are some of the most popular locations where our residents live.
Committee of Interns and Residents
All NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln residents are members of the Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR), the nation’s largest house staff union. CIR directly negotiates house staff contracts and provides many services to the residents.
