The Stroke Program at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln has been recognized for several years in a row for our commitment to providing excellent care to our patients. The Lincoln Stroke Program is a recipient of the American Heart Association’s/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus, Target: Stroke Elite Plus, & Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll awards and the hospital has been certified by The Joint Commission as Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center, which means we commit to a higher level of clinical service and excellence in the care of stroke patients.

Our mission is to promote stroke prevention, timely response, and enhance support for survivors, families and caregivers regardless of their ability to pay.

Our vision is to promote a healthy lifestyle, reduce morbidity and improve long-term outcome.

Our Values We SHINE

Safety – We believe in best practice to deliver high quality care through evidence-based and standard of care approaches.

Heed – We have a passion for making a difference in all our stroke patients, families, and community.

Initiative – We support and drive self-care management of our stroke patients for faster recovery.

Excellence – We work as a multidisciplinary team and devote ourselves to continuous improvement.

In 2025, we treated approximately 406 stroke patients. We offer a variety of treatments for Acute Ischemic Stroke including ‘clot-busting’ thrombolytic therapy and mechanical thrombectomy, which is a treatment to reopen a vessel that is blocked in a stroke patient using the latest technologies.

We have been a certified Thrombectomy Capable Center since June 2022.  Our team of board-certified stroke neurologists, endovascular neurosurgeons, neurocritical care specialists, emergency medicine physicians, nursing staff and technologists are trained to take care some of the most complex cerebrovascular patients. Our clinical staff is backed by support staff who provide care and guidance with resources to all our patients during hospitalization and after discharge to the community.

In Acute Ischemic Stroke earlier treatment of stroke symptom leads to favorable neurological outcomes and reduced disability.

Endovascular Therapy (Mechanical Thrombectomy) Measure:

Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction (TICI) post treatment reperfusion grades for successful mechanical endovascular therapy. TICI is a grading system (0-3) used in neurology to assess blood flow restoration (perfusion) in the brain after stroke treatment particularly Mechanical Thrombectomy. It measures how well blood flows past a clot, with TICI 3 indicating complete perfusion and TICI 2b/3 often representing successful clinical outcomes.
