Music for the Soul

Music for the Soul is a live concert series supported by The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment in partnership with Local 802 AFM. This program provides compensation to talented NYC musicians that perform a variety of genres including Jazz, Classical, Folk, Latin. Musicians are able to show their gratitude for our healthcare heroes and also provide healing for patients and community members.

Music has been proven to reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and pain as well as improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness and memory. Music elevates our mood and gives us energy and motivation and advances our overall health and wellbeing.

Currently, monthly concerts occur at the following hospitals:

  • NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens
  • NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem
  • NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi
  • NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County
  • NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst

Additionally, we provide special concerts at events such as Staff Appreciation Day, Hispanic/Latinx Heritage, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, National Nurses Month, Asian/Pacific Islander Month, Juneteenth, and Pride Month. This list continues to grow as we learn the needs of our communities.
