NYC Test & Trace Corps Expands Online Tool for COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation Guidance

Expanded tool will quickly connect New Yorkers who were exposed to or test positive for COVID-19 to appropriate guidance and critical health resources

New York, NY

The NYC Test & Trace Corps announced today that it has expanded its COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation Guidance Tool to offer personalized guidance to New Yorkers who were exposed to or test positive for COVID-19. In addition to providing appropriate guidance, the tool’s individualized results offer quick connections to critical resources, including isolation hotels, free meal delivery, testing and treatment.
“The launch of our combined guidance tool for quarantine and isolation will provide New Yorkers with the information they need to make informed decisions about their health and readily access essential resources,” said Dr. Ted Long, Executive Director of the NYC Test & Trace Corps and Senior Vice President for Ambulatory Care and Population Health at NYC Health + Hospitals. “As we enter a new phase of this pandemic, we will continue to build innovations that empower New Yorkers with the knowledge and resources to manage COVID-19 themselves and tell others who might have been exposed to break chains of transmission. These tools will allow New Yorkers to confidently keep themselves, their loved ones, and our city safe.”
“The user-friendly platform we’ve developed to help people navigate quarantine and isolation guidance would not be possible without the work and insights of our incredible contact tracers,” said Megan Benckert, Director of Trace Operations Support Team at the NYC Test & Trace Corps. “The millions of calls they’ve made to their fellow New Yorkers in a time of need has helped us learn exactly what information and resources they should have to quarantine or isolate safely and comfortably.”
The COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation Guidance Tool will provide a mechanism for New Yorkers to navigate complex COVID-19 guidance based on their history of infection, date of exposure or positive test, symptoms and vaccination status. After answering a few short questions, users will receive quarantine or isolation guidance specific to their circumstances. In addition, they will be directed to appropriate resources on the Test & Trace Corps COVID-19 Resources page to connect them to whatever support they may need, including testing, a free hotel room or meal delivery to safely separate from others, medical treatment and assistance taking leave from work to quarantine or isolate.
The COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation Guidance Tool builds on the functionality of an earlier version, released in January, that provided quarantine guidance for those exposed to COVID-19. New Yorkers are encouraged to use the COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation Guidance Tool if they have tested positive for or were exposed to COVID-19, and to visit the COVID-19 Resources page to learn more about what resources and supports are available to them.
