Street Health Outreach & Wellness Mobile Units

SHOW stands for Street Health Outreach & Wellness. SHOW is a new model of mobile units from NYC Health + Hospitals aimed at providing COVID-19 tests and vaccinations, wound care, basic material necessities, and harm reduction services to New Yorkers who are unsheltered.

Services

Clinical Services

  • Basic evaluation of symptoms or health concerns
  • Wound care (including antibiotics)
  • COVID-19 testing (PCR or rapid testing available)
  • Prescription for anti-viral treatment available to eligible New Yorkers who test positive on-site at all buses except Barclays Center
  • COVID-19 vaccination (Pfizer)
  • Hepatitis A vaccination (single shot

Behavioral Health Support and Harm Reduction

  • Engagement and education about mental health questions or concerns
  • Screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment for substance use disorders, including connection to medication-assisted treatment
  • Harm reduction services, such as Narcan/overdose training & kit distribution
  • Linkage to additional support if desired/needed

Snacks and Hygiene

  • Snacks and water
  • Hygiene kits containing: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, surgical mask, baby wipes, tissue
  • Socks
  • Reusable bags

What does the client need to bring for an appointment?

  • Identification and contact information (phone/email)
  • If the client does not have any of these things available, we will still offer some, if not all, services

Accessibility

  • All sites are wheelchair accessible. Each site is equipped with a wheelchair-accessible lift onto the bus for access to all services.
  • Each site is able to reach a video interpreter for over 25 languages, including American Sign Language for people who have impaired hearing.
