Parkinson’s disease is an illness of the nervous system. Initially, people with Parkinson’s may notice a tremor in a hand or stiffness or slowness when walking. However, the illness gets worse over time and affects movement more seriously. Although there is no cure, proper treatment can greatly improve symptoms.

  • NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County earned recognition as a Parkinson’s Disease Center of Excellence. Kings County is also designated for the study of neuroprotection, a therapy that slows the progression of the disease.
