“Thank you to City & State for including me in their list of influential Asian Americans serving New Yorkers,” said NYC Health + Hospitals Senior Vice President and Chief Quality Officer Eric Wei, MD. “My parents came to this country from Taiwan and their immigrant experience has had a profound impact on my career. Being an emergency physician and health care leader is truly rewarding, and I am grateful to NYC Health + Hospitals President and CEO Dr. Mitchell Katz for being a champion of diversity and inclusion.”

“I am incredibly proud and yes, humbled, to be honored as one of the ‘Asian 100’ by City & State,” said MetroPlusHealth Chief Operating Officer Lila Benayoun. “It is important for me to show my family and my community personally how much we, as AAPI New Yorkers, are contributing to the wellbeing of our City. And it is gratifying to work for an organization and a CEO who values diversity in all its forms.”

Dr. Wei leads the health system’s Office of Quality and Safety, focused on fostering a culture of safety, building quality improvement capacity across all 43,000+ staff, and becoming a data-driven organization. Dr. Wei founded the Helping Healers Heal program to support healthcare workers through emotional and psychological trauma. He is the fellowship director for the NYC Health + Hospitals Clinical Leadership Fellowship.
