Schneps Media recognized two leaders from NYC Health + Hospitals for its Power Women of the Bronx 2023. The honorees included Carjah Dawkins-Hamilton, Executive Program Director of NYC Health + Hospital/Jacobi’s Stand Up to Violence program and Rasheeda Petersen, Associate Director of Sales for the Bronx at MetroPlusHealth. Schneps Media is a local media company that reaches over 2 million readers per week across two daily newspapers and a large group of community newspapers, magazines, and websites. The full list of 40 honorees is available here.

Carjah Dawkins-Hamilton is the Executive Program Director of NYC Health + Hospital/Jacobi’s Stand Up to Violence program, which serves people affected by gun violence in the hospital and in the community. As Executive Program Director, Carjah has overseen the program’s expansion into a new community site and secured a five-fold increase in funding. She directed a restructuring of both the hospital response and the community outreach teams and manages budgets from various funding streams. Carjah also oversees the day-to-day operation and administration of the program. She is committed to serving patients and the community, and she is dedicated to treating violence as a disease.

“I am deeply grateful to Schneps Media and the Bronx Times for acknowledging the good work we are doing with Stand Up to Violence to save and improve lives within the Bronx community every day,” said Carjah Dawkins-Hamilton, Executive Program Director for NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi’s Stand Up to Violence program.

Born and raised in the Bronx, Rasheeda Petersen pursues her goal of helping fellow New Yorkers by helping her community gain access to quality health care for little to no cost. As the Associate Director of Sales for the Bronx at MetroPlusHealth, Rasheeda is responsible for growing and retaining membership in the Bronx and overseeing staff to meet sales projections for several lines of business. She identifies and secures growth opportunities through collaborative relationships within the community and educates providers and prospective members about the benefits of MetroPlusHealth.

“What an experience to be honored by Schneps Media, along with this remarkable group of people, each of whom is certainly a ‘Power Woman of The Bronx,’” said Rasheeda Petersen, Bronx Regional Sales Manager, MetroPlusHealth. “It has been my privilege for some years now to represent MetroPlusHealth in the best borough in the world. There is no better place to work and no better slice of New Yorkers to serve. Sincere thanks to Schneps Media for recognizing my passion.”
