President Obama Appoints NYC Health + Hospitals’ Dr. Dave Chokshi to National Advisory Group

Dec 05, 2016

New York, NY

President Barack Obama has appointed NYC Health + Hospitals’ Dr. Dave Chokshi to be a member of the Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health. In addition to taking on this prestigious voluntary role, Dr. Chokshi will continue to serve as the Chief Population Health Officer of OneCity Health and Senior Assistant Vice President at NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest public health care system in the nation.
The role of the advisory group is to bring a non-federal perspective to the National Prevention Council. The advisory group develops policy and program recommendations and provides advice on developing public, private, and not-for-profit partnerships that will lead to the improvement of population health.
“We are pleased and proud to learn that Dr. Chokshi’s knowledge and leadership are being recognized through this important appointment,” said Stanley Brezenoff, Interim President and CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals. “An outstanding physician and public servant, he is well equipped to raise issues particular to the patient needs encountered by public health systems and other safety-net providers. I am certain he will be a tremendous asset to the advisory group.”
The advisory group comprises a diverse group of licensed medical professionals who specialize in preventive medicine, public health education, geriatrics, and community health centers. The group currently has 21 members.
“I feel privileged to serve alongside other health care leaders from across the country,” said Dr. Chokshi. “I am grateful for this opportunity to demonstrate my commitment to the ongoing improvement of our nation’s health.”
Dr. Chokshi’s term is expected to be one year.
