NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan to Host Pop-up IDNYC Enrollment Site in East Harlem
May 10, 2017
NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan announced today its hosting of an IDNYC pop-up enrollment site, through May 17. Providing a convenient location for community residents to obtain an IDNYC card, the temporary enrollment center will be located in the hospital’s Welcome Center, on the first floor of NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan at 1901 First Avenue (at 97th Street), weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“The IDNYC program provides an easy and secure way for New York City residents to provide proof of identity and take advantage of a wide range of benefits and services throughout the city,” said Alina Moran, Chief Executive Officer, NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. “The health system is very proud to be the main provider of health care to the City’s immigrant community, and we’re glad to support programs that empower our patients and give them access to the full benefits other New Yorkers already enjoy.”
IDNYC is a government-issued identification card available to all New York City residents 14 and older, with proof of identity and residency. The IDNYC municipal ID card is available to eligible New Yorkers regardless of their immigration status, race, gender identity, or sexual orientation. IDNYC cards have been extremely popular since the program’s launch in January 2015, with more than 1 million people having signed up for the card.
IDNYC cardholders benefit from free memberships to 40 cultural institutions and discounts for movie tickets, sporting events, health and fitness clubs, New York City attractions, and grocery stores. More than 500,000 memberships at cultural institutions have been redeemed by IDNYC cardholders to date.
Although IDNYC is not required to access services at NYC Health + Hospitals locations, an IDNYC card provides the following health-related benefits for cardholders: discounts at health and fitness centers, including memberships to YMCA centers and NYC Parks Recreation Centers; access to vital health records such as birth and death certificates through the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene; and discounts on prescription drugs.
The IDNYC pop-up enrollment site at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed from 1 to 2 p.m.) Appointments are preferred; walk-ins are not guaranteed. To make an appointment, visit nyc.gov/idnyc or call 311.
