NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island to Host Pop-up IDNYC Enrollment Site
Jul 24, 2017
NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island announced today that it will host an IDNYC pop-up enrollment site, weekdays from Monday, July 24, through Monday, August 7, providing a convenient location for community residents to obtain an IDNYC card. This temporary enrollment center will be located at NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island, 2601 Ocean Parkway, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.). The IDNYC enrollment center is made possible through the support of community partners, including The Kings County District Attorney’s Office, Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz, Assemblymember Pamela Harris, Council Member Chaim Deutsch, Council Member Mark Treyger, State Senator Diane Savino and Shorefront Jewish Community Council.
“The NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island partnership with the IDNYC program ensures that the most vulnerable residents in our community will have increased access to services,” said Anthony Rajkumar, Chief Executive Officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island. “Our patients who have an IDNYC card can link their health care services and immunization records to the card, which will provide for a faster registration process during visits to NYC Health + Hospitals locations.”
IDNYC is a government-issued identification card available to all New York City residents 14 and older, with proof of identity and residency. The IDNYC municipal ID card is available to eligible New Yorkers regardless of immigration status, race, gender identity, or sexual orientation. IDNYC cards have been extremely popular since the program’s launch in January 2015, with more than 1 million people having signed up for the card.
IDNYC cardholders benefit from free memberships to 40 cultural institutions and discounts for movie tickets, sporting events, health and fitness clubs, New York City attractions, and grocery stores. More than 500,000 memberships at cultural institutions have been redeemed by IDNYC cardholders to date.
Although IDNYC is not required to access services at NYC Health + Hospitals locations, an IDNYC card provides the following health-related benefits for cardholders: discounts at health and fitness centers, including memberships to YMCA centers and NYC Parks Recreation Centers; access to vital health records, such as birth and death certificates through the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene; and discounts on prescription drugs.
Appointments are preferred; walk-ins are not guaranteed same-day service. To make an appointment, visit nyc.gov/idnyc or call 311.
“The IDNYC card is free and versatile, enabling families and individuals to take advantage of a wide array of resources and opportunities all across our borough and city, said Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz. “I’m pleased to co-sponsor this important initiative that will make the process of applying for the IDNYC both easy and accessible.”
“Since its inception, IDNYC has been hugely successful here in Brooklyn and across New York City, making it easier for residents to get an official ID and allowing access to a host of discounted services,” said Assemblymember Pamela Harris. “At NYC Health + Hospitals locations, cardholders have greater access to important medical records and prescription drug discounts that can help more New Yorkers afford the medications they need. I encourage everyone to visit the enrollment site at NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island to register and take advantage of all the IDNYC program has to offer.”
“The IDNYC has given residents of Brooklyn, and across the city a huge selection of resources,” said Senator Diane Savino. “Cardholders will have more streamlined access to their medical records, prescription drug discounts, and other vital health records. I encourage everyone to look into what the IDNYC has to offer.”
