Bronx, NY – Christopher Mastromano, CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi | North Central Bronx today announced the appointments of Robert Margolin, DDS as Chair of the Department of Dentistry & Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, and Josephine Sullivan, DDS as Vice Chair. Dr. Margolin succeeds Dr. Victor Badner, and Vice Chair is a new position Dr. Sullivan was elected into. Both appointments became effective on January 16.
Dr. Robert Margolin grew up in the Bronx, is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, and completed his General Practice Residency at Jacobi Hospital. He has worked at Jacobi Hospital since 2004 and became the hospital’s General Practice Residency Director in 2019. Before that, Dr. Margolin ran a private practice for 18 years and practiced at St. Barnabas Hospital for 19 years, where he led the General Practice Residency program for 15 years.
In addition to his extensive medical experience, Dr. Margolin has also held various positions in organized dentistry at the local, state, and national levels such as former President of the Bronx County Dental Society, past editor and President of the New York State Academy of the General Dentistry in addition to serving on the New York State Dental Association Board of Trustees, American Dental Association Access and Prevention Council and the Dental Quality Alliance. Dr. Margolin is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Dr. Josephine Sullivan, also born and raised in the Bronx, has been appointed as Vice Chair for the department after holding the position of Assistant Director of the General Practice Program at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi | North Central Bronx since 2004. Dr. Sullivan obtained her DDS at SUNY Stony Brook in 2001 in addition to completing a 2-year general practice residency at Montefiore Medical at Jacobi Hospital. She is a member of the American Dental Association with Bronx County and the 9th District, and she holds a position on the executive board for the Bronx County Dental Society. She has been a general practice attending at Jacobi and North Central Bronx Hospitals since 2004 in addition to practicing at Pelham Bay Dental Associates in the Bronx for over 20 years.
