NYC Health + Hospitals Completes Senior Leadership Transformation

Health system names four Chief Executive Officers for hospitals in the Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan

Aug 15, 2016

New York, NY

Dr. Ram Raju, President and CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals, today announced the final phase of appointments to the health system’s senior executive leadership team. The strategic shift in leadership is part of the health system’s overall transformation to support its Vision 2020 goals toward financial stability, growth and improving the patient experience.
The appointments of these Chief Executive Officers signals a critical milestone in the transformation of NYC Health + Hospitals as it continues to move in a new and bold direction, said Dr. Raju. Our essential public health system requires executive leaders who embrace change, who are driven by results, and who will deliver on our mission to providing quality, patient-centered care to all New Yorkers.
After a national search William T. Foley has been named CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, and Christopher Roker named CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens. Alina Moran, currently Acting CEO has been named CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan and Maureen Pode, Acting CEO at NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx has been named CEO of the hospital.
The four CEO appointments mark the final phase of executive leadership changes for the health system. During this past year NYC Health + Hospitals has named new CEOs at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island, NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, and NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst. The system’s former network structure based on hospital location has been replaced with three service lines focused on patient care – hospitals, post-acute care, and ambulatory care. Senior executives were appointed to lead the three new service lines created to help strengthen and elevate post-acute/long term care as a strategic area of opportunity to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and improve health outcomes.
“I’m thrilled to join the leadership team of NYC Health + Hospitals to lead NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, said William T. Foley, CEO, NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. I truly understand and appreciate the important role of public hospitals and I’m very confident I will contribute greatly to the continued success of Jacobi based on my experience leading public hospitals, health systems and academic medical centers.”
“I am truly honored and excited to come back to my birthplace Queens, NY and work with and for our patients, employees, and our community, said Christopher Roker, CEO, NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens. Queens’ true asset is its employees and their connection to our patients. We have some challenging but exciting work ahead, and we have a strong team at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens that will get the job done.
I am very excited to be back at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, where I was born, said Alina Moran, CEO, NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. My commitment to the success of this hospital and the city’s public health care system is personal as well as professional. I look forward to working together with the team at Metropolitan to build a stronger and more efficient hospital that will continue to provide safe quality care and an exceptional patient experience to all members of our community.
In these challenging and exciting times, I am honored and humbled in the trust afforded me to lead the great team at NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx, said Ms. Pode, RN, BSN, MA, CEO, NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx. I look forward to continuing our work together to build upon the rich history of serving the residents of the North Bronx. Our strength has been and will continue to be our commitment to the provision of respectful, compassionate and high quality care.
NYC Health + Hospitals conducted a national search to fill these leadership positions and worked with DHR International, an executive search firm, to find candidates from inside and outside the organization. The selection was assisted by search committees at the system level and for each of the hospitals. Members of the search committees included senior clinical and nurse leaders, and labor and community representatives.
