NYC Care Hosts Black History Celebration “Arts & Culture Brings Health and Wealth” at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln
NYC Care partnered with NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln and NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs to reach Black immigrant New Yorkers and connect them to NYC Care and other City, State and Federal resources.
NYC Care is a healthcare access program for New Yorkers who cannot afford or are ineligible for health insurance.

NYC Health + Hospitals’ NYC Care program today held a Black History celebration at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln which featured a resource fair with tabling from government and non-profit partners and an array of performances from local community artists, including the Addiction Recovery Choir (ARC) Gospel Choir. Special guests included faith leaders, consular officials, elected and appointed City leaders, and community leaders. The event is part of a broad, citywide outreach effort by NYC Care to enroll eligible New Yorkers in the program and encourage them to make a primary care appointment. Launched in 2019, NYC Care has more than 100,000 active members. After six months of enrollment, 53% of enrollees with diabetes had improved hemoglobin A1C, and 40% of enrollees with hypertension had improved blood pressure. NYC Care’s Executive Director, Dr. Jonathan Jiménez, gave remarks on behalf of the program, and was joined by NYC Mayor Eric Adams, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln CEO Christopher Roker, NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs Commissioner Manuel Castro, and NYC Mayor’s Office for International Affairs Commissioner Edward Mermelstein.
“Black History Month is a time for reflection, recognition, and action,” said Anne Williams-Isom, Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services. “That all came together with this event at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln to extend the reach of the NYC Care program that serves more than 100,000 people across the city.
