Jay Russel Is Named Chief Executive Officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Sea View

NYC Health + Hospitals announced today the appointment of Jay Russel, MHA, LNHA, to the position of chief executive officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/Sea View, a skilled nursing facility on Staten Island that provides high-quality long-term care and short-term rehabilitation services. NYC Health + Hospitals/Sea View has received the highest rating (five stars) from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the highest rating from U.S. News & World Report in its list of Best Nursing Home Short-Stay Rehabilitation Centers.

Previously, Mr. Russel served as a licensed nursing home administrator for the Cassena Care Group, an owner and operator of 15 skilled nursing facilities throughout the five boroughs, Nassau and Suffolk counties, and Connecticut. In his role at Cassena, Mr. Russel led facility operations at Mills Pond Nursing and Rehab, Long Beach Skilled Nursing Facility, and Peninsula Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Prior to that, he met his nursing home licensure requirements at the Long Island State Veterans Home at Stony Brook University, a long-term care facility dedicated to “Caring for America’s Heroes.”

Mr. Russel holds a bachelor’s degree in human biology from the University at Albany, State University of New York, and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Hofstra University, where he graduated with distinction. He serves as a lecturer on the topics of hospital administration and health care leadership at Hofstra University.

Mr. Russel brings with him a broad range of skilled nursing facility experience, including specialized focus on the development and oversight of in-house renal dialysis and adult day health programs.
