Hospital Leader Recognized for Expanding Health Service Options

Aug 16, 2018

Brooklyn, NY

Gregory Calliste, chief executive officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull, was named to the Brooklyn Power 50 list by City & State New York at a reception at the Brooklyn Marriott held August 2. He was recognized for expanding public health service options in Brooklyn.

During Mr. Calliste’s brief tenure, NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull became the first hospital designated Baby Friendly by Baby Friendly USA. In addition, he launched the Pride Health Center, a comprehensive, one-stop-shopping model of care providing LGBTQ-affirming primary care, obstetric and gynecologic care, HIV testing, hormone therapy, PrEP, and other services in a safe space. He is currently reaching out to the community to forge partnerships to increase access to needed health care and to eliminate health disparities.

“I am humbled by this recognition,” he said. “We at Woodhull are committed to partnering with community to ensure health equity to all. I am proud of our hospital family for the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm that has been making a difference in the health of the North Brooklyn communities.”

This is the first time City & State New York has generated a list of the 50 most influential people in Brooklyn.
