Sep 20, 2023

New York, NY

NYC Health + Hospitals today announced that PoliticsNY and amNY Metro recognized Hillary Jalon, MS, Vice President of Quality Management at NYC Health + Hospitals, on its 2023 Power Players Rising list. The award recognizes people who are taking on new roles as they lead change and innovation throughout the city. Promoted earlier this year to Vice President, Jalon oversees quality assurance, performance improvement, accreditation, patient safety, and quality measures reporting for the health system. She also leads a comprehensive strategy for quality improvement capacity building systemwide, including programs that foster a culture of excellence and equity in the health system’s services. PoliticsNY is an online news outlet that covers city and state government; it publishes a daily email newsletter and content in print through amNY Metro, and it is part of Schneps Media.

Jalon’s career in quality improvement includes roles at NYC Health + Hospitals/Community Care, the United Hospital Fund (UHF), and New York-Presbyterian Hospital. She has helped design and manage initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes, reduce patient readmissions and infections, and she has trained countless leaders in hospital quality. She serves as an Advisory Board member and is on the faculty for the GNYHA/UHF Clinical Quality Fellowship Program and is also a member of the Joint Commission’s Health System’s Corporate Liaisons. Jalon is an Associate Professor at New York University’s Wagner School of Health Policy and Management where she teaches the Continuous Quality Improvement course, challenging and inspiring her students to think critically and creatively about improving health care systems. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Master of Science in Health Administration from Russell Sage College in Rensselaer, New York.
