As It Approaches Its First Year Anniversary, NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health Center on Staten Island Will Expand Saturday & Evening Hours
Expansion demonstrates NYC Health + Hospitals commitment to improving access to primary care services for Staten Islanders Community invited to attend Saturday, June 8 celebration event and free health fair

NYC Health + Hospitals today announced that the health system’s full-service community health center on Staten Island will now offer Saturday and additional evening hours to expand access to primary and preventive health services to the community. The NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health center on Vanderbilt Avenue, will open the second Saturday of every month and until 7 pm on Tuesdays. The expansion nears the facility’s one year mark when the new $28 million ambulatory care center began offering affordable primary care for children and adults, mental health counseling and referrals, and opioid treatment to meet local community health needs. The investment in the 18,000-square-foot health center is part of NYC Health + Hospitals’ broader multi-year redesign to build a competitive, sustainable organization that will continue to offer high-quality and accessible health care to the people of New York City.
The health center, located at 165 Vanderbilt Avenue on the North Shore of Staten Island, is inviting the community to attend a celebration and health fair on Saturday, June 8, from 11:00 AM to 3:00. The event will feature free blood pressure screenings, presentations about nutrition, healthy eating, vaccinations and child safety, and other family-friendly activities like face painting and games provided by MetroPlusHealth, the city’s public option health plan owned by NYC Health + Hospitals.

We saw membership triple in the last year, thanks to our broad network of providers on the Island and the comprehensive health services we offer in our Gotham Health center on the North Shore.”

NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, Vanderbilt has same- and next-day primary care appointments available for children and adult and its staff speaks multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese, and Russian. The health center has new extended hours of operation:
- 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
- 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Tuesdays
- 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. starting this Saturday, June 8 and every second Saturday of the month
Clinical services offered include:
- Pediatrics and adolescent care
- Immunizations
- Women’s health, OB/GYN
- Prenatal care and post-partum services
- Family planning
- Mental health screening, counseling and referrals
- Opioid treatment
- Asthma care
- Diabetes care
- Radiology (x-ray, ultrasound, and mammography)
- Optometry
- Podiatry
