Sep 17, 2025
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst and the Queens Public Library have partnered to host a series of Spanish-language health and wellness educational events at the Elmhurst and Corona Library branches. The free series includes discussions led by NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst providers on a range of topics, including healthy eating, nutrition, chronic disease prevention, and mental health awareness. The collaboration is part of Queens Public Library’s Community Health Service program, which provides free health education classes, workshops, and activities to promote health awareness in the community.
“NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst is thrilled to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through our unique educational partnership with the Queens Public Library,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst CEO Dr. Helen Arteaga-Landaverde. “We appreciate the opportunity to do this outreach and increase health literacy about common medical issues in the Latino community. The more we can raise awareness about health issues, even beyond our walls, the more we can empower people to make proactive decisions that can ultimately lead to better health outcomes.”
“Queens Public Library is pleased to expand our partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst to provide our Spanish-speaking communities in Corona and Elmhurst—two of our busiest locations—with vital health and wellness programs during Hispanic Heritage Month,” said Queens Public Library President and CEO Dennis M. Walcott. “These workshops will improve access to quality medical guidance so that customers can take meaningful steps toward better nutrition and mental health.”
