Cristina Contreras Named Executive Director of NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx

NYC Health + Hospitals today announced the appointment of Cristina Contreras, MPA, LMSW, to executive director of NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx. Ms. Contreras has worked in the New York City public health care system for more than 20 years, including the last ten at NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx, where she has served as deputy executive director and chief operating officer for the past year. She will assume her expanded leadership role effective September 1.

As executive director, she will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the 213-bed community hospital, supervising staff, cultivating relations with clinical leaders and the community, overseeing work to enhance patient and staff satisfaction, assuring the hospital’s fiscal soundness, and delivering high-quality clinical services that are responsive to community health needs.

Ms. Contreras has broad experience in health care management of inpatient, ambulatory, clinical, and ancillary services. She holds Master’s degrees in public administration and social work. She is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives, the Association of Hispanic Healthcare Executives, and the local Community Board 7, where she chairs the Health Committee.
