As Part of its Annual Daisy Awards, NYC Health + Hospitals Celebrates 10 Nurses Across its Five Skilled Nursing Facilities and Long-Term Acute Care Hospital

The DAISY Awards recognize nurses for their commitment to patient care; nurses were nominated and selected by their colleagues

The DAISY Award, sponsored by the DAISY Foundation, is the international leader in nurse recognition. As part of its 2^nd Annual Post-Acute Care DAISY Awards, NYC Health + Hospitals honored 10 extraordinary nurses across the health system’s five long-term care facilities. The honorees’ nominations, submitted by residents, families, and staff, were inspiring stories exemplifying what it means to be a compassionate nurse. The Post-Acute Care (PAC) nurses selected for the recognition demonstrate an unparalleled commitment to providing our residents with quality, safe, and dignified care.

“Nurses who choose a path in long-term care build a vital connection to patients leaving our hospitals in search of healing and regaining their independence,” said NYC Health + Hospitals Senior Vice President of Post-Acute Care Khoi Luong, DO. “From helping our residents restore lost functions after a stroke or an accident to providing cognitive support in our memory care units, these nursing trailblazers embody the values of integrity and compassion that promote our residents’ ability to thrive.”

This award recognizes individual nurses or nurse-led care teams, who go above and beyond in caring for patients and residents.  These nurses work collaboratively with their interdisciplinary care teams to ensure the best health outcomes for their residents, working in various post-acute care areas including short-term rehab, long-term care and specialized units like memory care.

The nurses recognized are among the more than 9,000 nurses at NYC Health + Hospitals who provide care throughout the system’s hospitals, long-term care (skilled nursing) facilities, community health centers and neighborhood clinics, home care, and the correctional health system, throughout the five boroughs.
