Improved patient outcomes are the main motivating factor behind Evgeny Ermolov’s nursing career. Currently serving as a Staff Nurse in adult Emergency Services for NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, Ermolov prides himself on meticulous attention to details and the latest evidence-based practice.
“My love for science and my desire to help others made me choose nursing,” Ermolov says of his seven-year career. “Moreover, I wanted to do something that is interesting, challenging and makes a difference in people’s lives.”
Ermolov has been with NYC Health + Hospitals for four years, and says he enjoys the “team-oriented approach to emergency medical services and moments of levity with co-workers and patients.”
Nominators praise Ermolov for being a team player, and say he is engaged and active in departmental initiatives, noting that he is chair of the ED Quality Council and also an active member of the Pathway to Excellence Steering Committee at Harlem.
“Mr. Ermolov is not only a solid clinician at the bedside, but he is also a forward-thinker, innovative, and passionate about excellence,” one nominator states.
Another nominator points out, “Mr. Ermolov advocates for the patients and the community, and consistently demonstrates ICARE values in his care delivery. He is passionate about his profession and a great motivator for his peers.
Ermolov says NYC Health + Hospitals ICARE values provide a roadmap for better patient care, and says he feels particularly strong about “showing respect for patients and coworkers.” He says some of his most rewarding moments are “when a patient returns to thank me for giving competent and compassionate care.”
Looking ahead, Ermolov says he is excited about the future of nursing. “Integrity, strong ethical and moral principles are an inextricable component to the delivery of quality health care,” he points out. “Through furthering my education and involvement in my department, I plan to grow and develop in this field, as well as keeping up closely with evidence-based advances in practice.”
