What is Lung Cancer Screening?

A lung cancer screening (LCS) is performed with a low-dose CT (LDCT) scan. There is no contrast used for an LCS.

Who is a lung cancer screening for?

Lung cancer screening is for people who smoke or have already quit. The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) says that people who are:

Age 50-80

Have at least a 20 Pack Year History

Are still smoking OR have stopped in the past 15 years

Have not had a chest CT in the past year

Have no signs or symptoms of underlying lung cancer such as a new or changed cough, hemoptysis, unexplained significant weight loss or extreme fatigue
