Test & Treat Corps – Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the NYC Test & Treat Corps?

The NYC Test & Treat Corps, formerly the NYC Test & Trace Corps, is the City’s comprehensive effort to connect all New Yorkers with the critical tools for COVID-19 testing, guidance and treatment.

The work of the Corps is led by NYC Health + Hospitals in close collaboration with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and other city agencies.

What is the goal of the Test & Treat Corps?

Our aim is to provide New Yorkers convenient, widespread access to free testing, rapid connections to COVID-19 treatment and resources to support those recovering from Long COVID.

How does the NYC Test & Treat Corps ensure the privacy and security of personal information?

The NYC Test & Treat Corps is committed to protecting the privacy and security of New Yorkers’ personal health information as required by federal, state and local law and in keeping with the NYC Health + Hospitals’ and the City Health Department’s long-time experience in guarding such information. The information that the NYC Test & Treat Corps receives is confidential and protected under the New York City Health Code.

The NYC Test & Treat Corps does not ask about anyone’s immigration status and its database is not linked to any law enforcement databases. Any information the NYC Test & Treat Corps obtains is stored securely and used by authorized staff for the limited purpose of protecting public health.

How is the NYC Test & Treat Corps working to understand the diverse needs of New Yorkers, particularly communities most impacted by the virus?

The Corps continues to work to ensure its efforts are reflective of the diverse city it serves. Hundreds of community partners have provided advice and outreach support to help us deliver effective and culturally appropriate services, encourage testing and vaccination and address the needs of communities that have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, through partnerships with over 930 community- and faith-based organizations across the city, the NYC Test & Treat Corps has established an at-home test distribution network of hundreds of locations where program partners deliver at-home tests directly to their community members.
