There are hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who don’t have access to the health care they need.
This is about to change.
Health care becomes inaccessible when people are ineligible for health insurance, can’t afford it, or simply don’t know what health care services are available to them.
As a result, too many New Yorkers often delay care until they end up in the emergency room, where the wait is long and the cost high.
In January 2019, NYC launched the largest and most comprehensive initiative in the nation to guarantee health care for every New Yorker. The initiative includes strengthening NYC’s public health insurance option, MetroPlus, and guaranteeing anyone ineligible for insurance has direct and continuous preventive care access to NYC Health + Hospitals’ physicians, pharmacies and medical services through a new program called NYC Care.
NYC Care Member Benefits Will Include:
In New York City, You Have The Right To Guaranteed Health Care.
It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from: if you live in New York City, you have the right to have your own doctor and access to medication 24/7 to keep yourself and your family healthy.
NYC Care is a health care access program for people who have lived in NYC for six months or longer who are unable to afford health insurance based on federal income guidelines, or who are ineligible for it.
No one should wait to seek care until it’s too late. New Yorkers who enroll in NYC Care will get a dedicated primary care provider, preventive care, and 24/7 customer service and access to medications.
Under NYC Care, New Yorkers will be able to access a broad range of services provided by any of the 70 patient care locations, including 11 hospitals and dozens of community-based health centers, of NYC Health + Hospitals, the nation’s largest public health system.
NYC Care will begin August 1, 2019 in the Bronx and will be available in other boroughs by the end of 2020.
It’s time to unlock health care for all New Yorkers.
If you need health care now, NYC Health + Hospitals has services available across the five boroughs. Callto make an appointment.
