El Museo del Barrio is delighted to announce ‘With Love from El Museo,’ an installation of posters of artwork from the Permanent Collection at East Harlem’s community healthcare center, NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. Conceived during the height of the pandemic and inspired by the healing ability of art, the initiative includes posters from artists Domingo Garcia, Hiram Maristany, Dulce Pinzón, Arnaldo Roche Rabell, Nitza Tufiño, Manny Vega, and others. The selection is currently on view in the hospital’s gift shop, in the main lobby, at 1901 First Avenue and East 97th Street, with additional posters to be exhibited in the Emergency Department and in the Employee Respite Center through 2021.
“As a cultural institution proudly rooted in East Harlem, we welcome the opportunity to demonstrate the healing and transformative power of art through select works from our Permanent Collection. Gracias to the NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan for providing us a platform to highlight our renowned Collection, and promote individual and collective wellbeing. “ – said Patrick Charpenel, Executive Director, El Museo del Barrio
“We are thrilled to partner with El Museo del Barrio to share highlights from the museum’s permanent collection with our patients, visitors, and staff,” said Cristina Contreras, Chief Executive Officer, NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. “This pop-up galley is a testament to our mutual longstanding commitment to celebrating the community we serve in East Harlem and beyond.”
