Dialysis is a treatment for people in the later stage of chronic renal insufficiency (kidney failure). Dialysis patients often have other health problems that require hospitalization. During this time, their regular program of dialysis must continue. NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island provides hemodialysis treatment with specially trained registered nurses under the supervision of a Nephrologist, a specialist in kidney diseases and dialysis.
