NYC Health + Hospitals was the first U.S. public health care system to mandate LGBTQ training for all staff members in 2011.
Twenty-one of our facilities have earned the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s designation, “Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality” in 2015 and 2016. To earn this, facilities must train staff in LGBTQ health care, have LGBTQ-responsive policies, and make those policies available to the public and staff.
NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, a pioneer in LGBTQ medical and psychosocial care, offers a variety of services through its LGBT Health Center, including services for women’s health; men’s health; gender transition; hormone therapy; HIV and STD prevention, screening, and treatment services; adolescent care; social work and behavioral health services; and general primary care.
