Feb 17, 2017

To pave the way for a lucky and prosperous year ahead, NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln celebrated the Lunar New Year—the Year of the Rooster—with staff and the community. Celebrants embraced the notion that a good start to the year will lead to a lucky year overall.

On Friday, February 3, the sixth day of a 15-day gala, a diverse group of employees from NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln put together a festival for all to enjoy. Treats included Changing Faces, “the magician of many faces,” the traditional big, hungry “Lion,” and food and games from many nations, including South Korea, Vietnam, and China.

Countries recognizing the Lunar New Year include China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Malaysia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Other countries influenced by the Chinese Lunar calendar, include South Korea, Tibet, Bhutan and Mongolia. Staff from NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln come from all these countries.

Themes of the Year of the Fire Rooster include “trustworthiness” and “responsibility to work.”
