NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County welcomed its first baby of 2018 at 4:55 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Weighing in at 6 lbs. 15 oz. and measuring 20 inches, baby girl Emani Andrea Mason was born to Alicia Gonzalez of New Jersey and Darrick Mason of Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
“I hope all of her dreams come true,” said Ms. Gonzalez.
“Every child born here is a blessing, yet there is something remarkable about knowing a new baby can also herald a new year,” said Wendy Wilcox, MD, MPH, FACOG, Chairperson of Obstetrics/Gynecology at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County.”
Ms. Gonzalez was presented with a gift basket crafted by staff, a signature NYC Health + Hospitals baby bag along with a Pack & Play from the NYC Safe Sleep initiative. Emani was the first of five born on New Year’s Day at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County.
At NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, 1,987 babies were born in 2017, including 35 sets of twins and one set of triplets.
